Who is Lomond Soap?
Lomond Soap was started in 2007 by me, Corrie Smith, looking for an alternative to supermarket soap & shower gels which ! found drying and full of chemicals.

I worked in Retail management for 20 years, the last 2 were very stressful, having left Virgin Retail I moved to a new position in a now defunct home store, Au Naturelle. Let's just say that they and I did not see eye to eye, they paid me to leave in the end after threatening to take them to tribunal. The stress caused a huge psoriasis flare up and there started my soap making journey.
After trying many oil combinations and making a lot of soap in my trials, ! gave it to friends and neighbours to try, their comments and enthusiasm spurred me on.
I joined the local craft association and trooped round many a church hall, highland games and country fair. I was beginning to have a wee following of people who liked my products.
Having grown steadily I opened a small shop in Cardross in September 2012, a dedicated place to work and sell my products. In 2014 myself and 2 other crafters opened a shop in Helensburgh called Shooftie (meaning have a look) which is still going strong today, we showcased our own and the work of 50+ other Scottish crafters but after 2 years I was stretching myself thinly and left the others to it, I moved to bigger premises in 2014 where I still work from today.

Lomond Soap's customers are incredibly loyal, some have been using my soap for 15+ years, I always reward loyalty with wee extras added to their orders.
I have a real passion for for making natural products, I hope you will enjoy using them as much as I do making them.

What's wrong with palm oil?
Back in 2007 when I started making soap, palm oil was in every bar of soap, I had researched the oils I wanted to use and found that 80% of the worlds palm oil is produced in Malaysia & Indonesia, an ingredient which is in much of what we consume from bread to chocolate to soap.
Vast areas of rain forest are being cleared and burnt to plant palm, destroying the natural habitat of Orangutans and other species.
Orangutans now face serious threat of extinction. Since 1900 their numbers have fallen by 91%. Demand for palm oil continues to soar and by 2050 is expected to be triple that of 2000.

What makes us special?
At Lomond Soap we say NO to all the unnecesary chemicals normally found in soap like foaming agents, chemical hardeners and preservatives.
Our ethos is to make soap that is good for your skin & the planet. Our soap is packed full of vegetable oil goodness, aromatherapy grade essential oils, clays, herbs and flowers. We buy our Shea Butter from a women's cooperative in Ghana where profits are used to better the lives of their families and community.
Clean body - Clear conscience!
